Electronica

I’ve finally done it. After resisting for years, I’ve bought an iPod.

Unfortunately, I haven’t had a chance to play with it yet. Our music collection is on alenxa’s computer, which is old enough that its USB port is USB 1.1. This hasn’t been a problem until now, since she syncs her iPod with Firewire. Little did I know that the latest generation of iPod only supports USB. I charged it this afternoon, and started the initial sync this evening. So far it’s about 1/3 through.

At least future syncs won’t be so bad.

In other news, I’ve found myself in the middle of an online firestorm twice this week. First, on Monday, with the beta release of Safari for Windows. I wanted to capitalize on the news to get people looking at the Alternative Browser Alliance, so I was posting on Firefox forums, Opera forums, Slashdot, Digg, etc. Actually that’s three — the Digg thread was on Wednesday.

Then, on Friday, news of a surprise relaunch of The Flash hit. The book is being canceled after Wednesday’s issue, then being relaunched. They managed to keep this under wraps despite all comic book orders going three months ahead by soliciting the first two books of the new series as if they were #14 and #15 of the current one. So I spent a good chunk of Friday evening, and several chunks of time yesterday and today, on about half a dozen comic book forums. I’ll be up for more on Monday afternoon, when DC announces their new books for September.

And what is it with Newsarama’s forums? They seem to crash daily, or else they do maintenance at random times without telling anyone.

Meanwhile, we’ve finally started season 3 of Battlestar Galactica. With effort, we should be able to catch up before Comic Con and not have to worry about spoilers.

        1. As long as they’re not Cookies Mini. Or worse, Cookies Shuffle — with those, you never know what you’re going to get!
