I’m kind of annoyed with myself for actually being excited about this movie.

    1. Battered fan syndrome. Yeah, that sounds about right!

Clone Wars was fun (and funny), if a bit frenetic. I’d tried to watch some of them the way they were originally shown — in 3-minute segments — but it’s virtually impossible. The DVD strings them all together into one 70-minute show and it’s much more watchable. I get the impression there’s a volume 2 that’s been shown on TV but hasn’t made it to DVD yet.

  1. Why? Just because the last two movies were so awful that appearing enthusiastic about this one only makes it seem as if you’re buying into the hype? Heh.

At least I’ve come across some positive reviews of it (from non-critics, even), unlike the rumors I’ve heard about, say, HHGttG (although Greg liked it, detractors notwithstanding; my main reviewer was my brother, who wasn’t impressed, and when he went to see it his position was approximately congruent to Liz’s). Anyway, I was getting to the point: supposedly there’s a smaller proportion of eye candy to plot in this movie. Guess we’ll just have to go watch and find out.

    1. alenxa and I both liked H2G2. Sure, it was different from the book, but the book was different from the radio show. The TV show was different from both. I always thought the book cut off early, as if Douglas Adams ran up against a deadline and just decided to stop where he was, then picked up where he left off for book 2 — but had to rearrange things from the way they had worked in the radio show. maldis read an interview in which DA stated that he deliberately made the story different in each medium.

Anyway, my opinion of the movie was that it was good. Not great, but not bad or even mediocre. There were some things that didn’t quite work, others that did, some that really could have benefited from an extra 10 seconds of follow through… but nothing on the level of the worst scenes in Attack of the Clones. (Lucas, couldn’t you have let someone else direct the dramatic scenes?!?!)
