I just realized one of my friends is touring Thailand this month, and I’m not sure whether he’s back yet or, if not, what part of the country he would have been in on Sunday.
Somehow he’s managed to be in New York during 9/11, Madrid during the train bombing, and now (maybe) Thailand during the tsunami.
Wow, disaster man. (crosses fingers) Hope he’s okay. 🙂
Yeah, he’s fine. It turns out he got back a few days before it hit, but we don’t see each other often, so my first hint that he’d even been in Thailand was a postcard from Bangkok.
Shades of ‘Pure Luck’ with Martin Short. ‘Cept if he’s surviving and not particularly hit, is it that he triggers it massively for others, not himself?
As it turns out, he actually came back a few days before the tsumani (we don’t see each other often, so I didn’t know his schedule), so he missed this one entirely.
But yeah, the whole 9/11-Madrid thing was weird.
